    Quotes of Jinnah

Praise your Government when it deserves, criticize your Government fearlessly when it deserves, but do not go on all the time attacking, indulging in destructive criticism, taking delight in running down the Ministry or the officials.
(Speech at Edwardes College, Peshawar 18th April, 1948)

The weak and the defenseless, in this imperfect world, invite aggression from others.
(Address to Pakistan Navy, January 23, 1948)

Service is the back-bone of the State. Governments are formed. Governments are defeated, Prime Ministers come and go, Ministers come and go, but you stay on, and therefore, there is a very great responsibility placed on your shoulders.
(Advice to civil officers, Peshawar, April 14, 1948)

A night in the No Man’s Land

It was the 14th night of moon. The weather was almost overcastted, and moon was playing hide & seek with the clouds. The breeze of December was cutting the skins. The night was getting colder n colder, darker n darker, and sea-level was continuously rising. The waves were colliding with the rocks at shore. After walking several miles with the coast, they were lying tired on the shore. It was around
2 a.m. when all of a sudden it started raining and they ran madly in search of a safer place. The drops of rain were falling on their bodies like stones. Climbing, falling & slipping between rocky hills, at-last they found a shelter up on the hill. They were eleven.

They hardly managed to adjust themselves inside a small cave-like-place on the hill, where they were unable to stand. Aidless they were sitting there, shivering with the cold, listening the rain droplets falling on the rocks, watching the endless wide ocean in the dark which was spread on the earth with no boundaries, thinking about the eternal powers of God, and waiting for the sun to emerge from the other side of the ocean. Sun was probably their only hope to go back towards life. No signs of population up-to miles. It was no man's land.

The master-mind of this excursion was Mohsin Johar, a colleague of mine. We decided to go out for a unique picnic on the occassion of eid-ul-azha. We reached the
Mubarak Village (a spot located somewhere in between the hilly area of Balochistan & Sindh) at about 4:30 pm. The scenery of the area was extremely beautiful. The range of hills was worth-seeing. We took chicken tikka and meat of qurbaani for bar-b-que. We had a water-proof camp (for 3 people), a stove, a gas cylinder and few piles of wood with us to fight with the cold. We walked more than a mile to reach the rock-hill. Then we started climbing the hill which goes around 600 meters inside the sea. We covered this distance in an hour because of deadly dangerous curves and sharp edges of the hill. It was exactly 6 p.m. when we reached our destination. We set up our camp there & within an hour it was all dark.
Far away from where we were lying on the sand and rocks, there was a light house. We decided to go to light-house, but when we reached the light house after walking 40 minutes, the man on the light-house did not allow us to go on the top of light-house. So we came back disappointedly after a long tiring walk. We cooked the dinner of tikkas n botees by roasting them on coal, that too was an interesting & joyous experience. After that we made tea on stove. It was getting colder, so we burnt fire with the woods. We were busy in gossips around
2 a.m. when it started raining, so we moved up on the hill for shelter. It was a continuous rain so we stayed there till 7:30 a.m.

It was an extremely adventurous and unique experience of our lives. We enjoyed the excursion to its full. We decided to return home at 8 a.m.

    Terrorists in Black Coats

One interesting fact about the lawyers is that in every single case of the court, one lawyer fights for the truth, and the other lawyer defends a criminal. So if we apply simple arithmetic here, we will come to a conclusion that at-least 50% of all lawyers support criminals. God knows that those lawyers who fight for truth in one case, do they support criminals in other cases or not ? This percentage may rise if they support criminals in other cases.

I dont remember exactly, but i think it was Ardeshir Cowasjee (a columnist in DAWN) who had given lawyers the title of
'Terrorists in Black Coats'. The reason was what the lawyer’s community did after 9 March 2007 in the name of movement for the rule of law.

It was not a movement for justice, it was actually a movement to de-stabilize
Pakistan, funded jointly by foreign powers and failed political parties of Pakistan. These political parties have their strong segments in the community of lawyers. Before 9 March, these segments were silent because they had nothing to shout then. But after March 9th, the political parties activated these segments and brought them on roads to create agitation in the country. One reason of using lawyers for an anti-government movement was, earlier the political parties were unable to bring a common man on roads.

In front of camera lawyers were shouting in favour of Chief Justice, but behind the scene these lawyers were actually making ground for the failed political parties to come and play. In the name of protest the lawyers violated the law in all possible means. In every protest they stoned the police, breached police cordons, entered in restricted areas, went on strikes from court proceedings, damaged public properties and committed the contempt of court. They used every way to terrorize the people and government.

Whatever the lawyers did, in the end the failed and criminal political parties were the biggest beneficiaries.
